Tim Wilkes Photography is back at the Sperry Topsider Sailing World NOOD Regattas! So here we are in San Diego. It’s a bit chilly but the first day gave us some decent breeze. The photos are now up on our website www.timwilkes.com !

So often the focus of a major sailing event is on the “Grand Prix” professionally sailed boats. However, Key West Race Week has always had a place for the amateur and semi professional sailing enthusiast who takes their sailing seriously. So this post is dedicated to those boats sailing in Division 3. This course is made up of J111’s, a beautiful J44 named White Gold, a 1D35, a J122 and several other well sailed attractive boats. Enjoy these and don’t forget to look at www.timwilkes.com/searchlinksKW13.html for our latest photos, search-able by boat name!

The surf was definitely up yesterday on the prestine waters off Key West for Day 3 of Quantum Key West Race Week 2013. Sailors got what the came for. Warm breezes and beautiful sunny skies to test their skills against some of the best sailors the world over. And the day capped off with a cool Mt. Gay rum drink at the Race Week Village. Sailors relax, swap stories, watch videos, browse through Tim Wilkes Photography photos at their Kiosk display and enjoy all the latest gear on display from the many sponsors of Quantum Key West. Browse photos of racing action from the first three days at www.timwilkes.com/searchlinksKW13.html

Tim’s Thought for the Day: Key West Race Week 2013

Fewer boats on the race course than the old days for sure. But the location knows no economic climate changes, hard times or any of that. Key West was, is and always will be a place of pristine aqua blue waters, sunshine and warm breezes.

So for those who chose to participate, they’ll get the same magical experience with a bit more elbow room. (1/21/13)

Artist Max Mulhern has constructed and released two large colorful die into the Atlantic Ocean in a project called Aqua Dice.

Now these would make interesting markers on a yacht race course!
